Matt
Lawver
Matt hails from the far away land of Minnesota where the home office of Silver Stream Publishing, LLC is located.   He met Eugene when he hired him as a delivery driver for his pizza restaurant.  After earning his Bachelors of Science degree he started concentrating on his writing and poetry.  His first complete work, Balance on the Fold, was put to the side so that he could concentrate all his efforts on Blood of the Dragon.

Matt approached Eugene to work on a soundtrack for his book, Balance on the Fold.   After the initial Balance sessions, work on Blood of the Dragon followed.  As Blood of the Dragon took over, Balance on the Fold was but on the backburner.  In addition composition, Eugene also co-wrote the book.  You can find more information on Eugene at www.producerQ.com, his uber-cool music persona.

Some history and background information...

Blood of the Dragon was once a screen play called Condor:  First Flight.  It was written by Matt Lawver.  While Matt was working on this, he was at the same time completing a project with Eugene (Producer Q)  called Balance on the Fold out in Los Angeles.  Dave Fahy was also there laying down bass guitar and vocal tracks.  Matt's original idea was to finish the screen play and try to pitch it for a movie.  Knowing the odds were against him, he decided to create his own luck and develop the story as a novel.

As time went on with Matt developing the novel back in Minnesota,  Eugene was at work on the music in Arizona.  Rough music tracks were sent to Matt for lyrics.  Dave, who was in California, was also sent tracks to develop musical ideas.  Although creating the soundtrack from three different states was a challenge, it was also liberating for each involved.

While the music and words were coming together, a very stretched out Dave  was working up artwork to facilitate better communication among the creators about what was going on in the story.  These drawings, while not used in the final version of the book are a great insight to how things were developed.   Some day, we may put them up for you to see.

With the novel completed, Eugene  came in to assist editing.  Because of his background in fantasy literature and playing way too many role playing games from middle school past college, he was given creative freedom to flesh out the story further.  He ended up writing enough new material to warrant a co-author credit.  First Flight was intended to be the first in a series of books, thus the first flight, but the title was eventually changed to Blood of the Dragon, because Eugene is good at nagging.

As Blood of the Dragon neared its final revisions, Ken Save was brought on board for final interior illustrations and cover design.  His new perspective into the material gave the writers yet another reason to rethink how the book was written.  Ah...rewrites.  There's nothing better!  Which is good, because they never seem to end.
